In Greene County district court Joseph Ray Thompson, 18, of Scranton was sentenced Jan. 4 to four days in jail on a charge of disorderly conduct, amended from domestic abuse assault impeding air/blood flow causing bodily injury. He will receive credit for time previously served. Thompson was fined $65 with a $9.75 surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Gretta Darlene Halterman, 20, of Jefferson was sentenced to 30 days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated. All but two days of the jail term was suspended and she was placed on probation to Boone/County Probation for one year. She may complete the Des Moines Area Community College 48-hour alcohol education program in lieu of the jail time. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. She must pay a $1,250 fine with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half will be waived if she obtains a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Jonathan David Law, 37, of Churdan was sentenced to 30 days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of OWI. He may complete a weekend OWI program in lieu of the jail time. He must complete a drinking drivers’ school if he doesn’t complete the weekend program. He must complete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone. Law was fined $1,250 with a $187.50 surcharge; one-half has been waived as he has obtained a temporary restricted license. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: Honorable Derek Johnson)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Marcia Kay Lowe, 57, of Yale, possession of marijuana- third or subsequent offense and possession of methamphetamine- third or subsequent offense; Randolph Lee Glass, 54, of Rippey, driving while license revoked; and Becky Sue Mitchell, 52, of Ogden, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for April 6 in every case.
