Happy New Year from all of us at the Scranton public library! This is the time of year when many people start making resolutions. Did you make a reading resolution this year? We would love to help you with that!
There are many reading apps out there, like Good Reads, where you can make a goal of reading a certain number of books this year. You can even keep track of the books read. The library gets new books in almost weekly, and post those new books on our Facebook page and on our website. If you want to read one of those new releases, just let us know!
The Libby app (or Overdrive if you are using a desktop computer) lets you check out books and magazines for free using your library card. It counts as circulation for us, you get to read some good books or magazines, it’s a win-win! All you need is your library card number.
The library is open to the public by appointment. Just give the library a call before you head out your door to make sure the staff has had plenty of time to clean between patrons. Masks are required when you come to the library. but we have extra disposable masks if needed. We look forward to being able to serve our patrons in the new year!
A big thank you to the Greene County board of supervisors, Greene County Librarians, and New Way Trucks for sponsoring our craft kits in 2020. We were able to offer a variety of summer, fall, and winter craft kits for adults and kids. These were a lot of fun to make, and we’ve had some great feedback from patrons! There is more fun programming in the works for 2021 – so watch the library’s Facebook page, website (www.scranton.lib.ia.us), or The Scranton Journal to keep in the loop! ~Wendy Johnson, library director /courtesy of The Scranton Journal
