GJ man seriously injured in pedestrian accident

A Grand Junction resident was seriously injured when he was struck by a vehicle while walking on 16th St in Grand Junction Tuesday evening.

According to a report from the Iowa State Patrol, Travis Fincel, 46, of Grand Junction was walking northbound in the roadway on 16th St north of Sandoe St at 8:10 pm when he was struck by Robert Kinnick, 72, also of Grand Junction. Kinnick was driving a 2015 Dodge Ram pickup truck.

Kinnick initially left the scene but was soon identified and located.

Fincel was transported by Greene County Ambulance to Greene County Medical Center, and then transferred by helicopter to a Des Moines hospital. The accident report noted he had possible life-threatening injuries.

Kinnick was not injured. His vehicle was towed from the scene.

The Greene County sheriff, deputies, and Grand Junction rescue assisted at the scene.

An investigation is in progress.
