Multi-agency investigation working on drug case in Jefferson, elsewhere

The Greene County sheriff’s office is one of 13 agencies investigating a drug distribution case that has led to the seizure of more than 80 pounds of methamphetamine.

Lead agencies in the investigation are the Tri-County Drug Enforcement Task Force of Waterloo, the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

On Oct. 30, seven search warrants were served in locations in and around Jefferson, Waterloo and Van Horne. The evidence seized included 82 pounds of methamphetamine, 10 pounds of marijuana, 1.5 pounds of heroin, $28,000 in cash, and two guns. At this time, no arrests have been made. 

According to the Greene County sheriff’s report for that date, the sheriff and deputies assisted the Iowa State Patrol with search warrants at 5:45 am. No location was given.
