Mike Holden is on a mission to keep shoppers in the community. Working with Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community, he has initiated “Dare to Care” that will reward shoppers for doing business locally.
Holden is about halfway to his goal of raising $5,000. He is contacting businesses and individuals who value the local retail stores to donate money. The funds raised will be used to purchase Chamber Bucks that are good at all Greene County businesses.
Local retail merchants are taking registrations from customers. The businesses are also adding the names of customers who make purchases on Facebook Live.
Throughout the month of December, lucky winners will be selected from the drawing entries. Each winner will receive $200 in Chamber Bucks. The drawings are held on Tuesday mornings at 10 am.
“It’s been a tough year for our local retailers,” explained Holden. “We’ve got to help support them if we want them to stay in business. That’s why I thought by rewarding shoppers with Chamber Bucks, we can get more people here and keep the local folks shopping here.
“It’s really important to shop local, now more than ever. Give our local businesses a shot before you go out of town or get online,” added Holden. “They just might have what you’re looking for.”
Persons who would like to contribute to “Dare to Care” can drop off a check at the Jefferson Matters: A Main Street and Chamber Community office located in the Thomas Jefferson Gardens. Please make a notation that the donation is for “Dare to Care”.
“Don’t forget to register at the stores while you are shopping because you could be a winner,” Holden said.
