Giving Tuesday is a global movement unleashing the power of people and organizations to transform their communities on Dec. 1, 2020, fueled by the power of social media. Kicking off the holiday season, this annual day of giving is celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving in the U.S. — on the heels of Black Friday and Cyber Monday — when many people are making holiday and end-of-the-year donations.
Our story is simple. Greene County Medical Center is a rural, critical access, not-for profit hospital that provides health care services to Greene County residents and beyond. We help anyone who comes through our doors regardless of their ability to pay. Greene County Medical Center has provided more than $25.1 million patient and resident healthcare services to all patients who need care in the communities we serve each year.
The medical center also generated more than $25 million for the Greene County area’s economy in 2019, according to the most recent impact study by the Iowa Hospital Association. The report also shows medical center’s employees spent just under $3 million on retail sales within the county and contributed nearly $176,000 in state sales tax revenue.

Houska continued, “Greene County Medical Center is proud to be an important part of the economic engine of the county. The jobs we provide contribute to the local economy, and the availability of access to high quality healthcare services is vital to the array of amenities necessary for economic growth in Greene County.”
