The first week of November found some young people at the Scranton Pond performing some community service clean up after the storms that hit the Scranton area this summer. Steven Johnson, Quinten and Americus Squibb, all home school students, along with their grandparents, Neal and Leesa Squibb, decided to make the Scranton Pond a community service project for this school year.
Several trees were cut down thanks to the city of Scranton and this idea soared from then on. A lot of clearing of old bushes and branches, and clearing some new fishing spots were tackled.

A fresh new path surrounding the pond was designed and fixed before the frost and cold weather set in.
This will be an ongoing project from these young people for the year ending with the Kids Fishing Days in June.
Several ideas and suggestions were considered. Some birdhouses are being planned for winter projects.
Anyone with ideas is asked to share them and pass them along to the Squibb family.
The Scranton park and recreation committee also has several projects shaping up for the spring. Volunteers are always welcome.
