Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Saturday, Oct. 31: At 1:50 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1000 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 8:14 am a deputy investigated a complaint of hunters shooting over a roadway near Pioneer Ave and Highway 30 east of Jefferson. At 2:58 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 200 block of T Ave in Dawson Township. At 6:21 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop on County Road E-63 320th St and Quest Ave in Franklin Township. Randolf Glass, 54, of Rippey was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence- first offense*. At 10:28 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 200 block of 6th St S in Grand Junction.
Friday, Oct. 30: At 5:45 am the sheriff and deputies assisted the Iowa State Patrol with search warrants. At 4:31 pm a deputy investigated a school bus violation on Highway 4 near 300th St in Franklin Township. At 7:10 pm a deputy investigated a fire in the 1000 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. The fire was a controlled burn. At 10:38 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a burglary in the 300 block of S. Wilson Ave.
Thursday, Oct. 29: At 12:04 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of N. Elm St. Shannon Oneal, 45, of Grand Junction was arrested for operating without an interlock device*.
Wednesday, Oct. 28: At 12:35 am a deputy investigated a single-vehicle accident on A Ave near 1st St in Ralston. Erika Pena-Baltazar, 29, of Glidden lost control of her vehicle while crossing the railroad tracks while the crossing arm was coming down. She was not injured. She was cited for no valid driver’s license, failure to maintain control, failure to properly stop at a railroad crossing, and leaving the scene of an accident. Damage to her 2010 Toyota Sienna was estimated at $6,000. At 10:11 pm a deputy investigated a small fire on O Ave near 120th St in Dawson Township. There was fence post that was on fire; the fire was extinguished by the deputy.
Tuesday, Oct. 27: At 7:02 am a deputy investigated a suspicious person near the Scranton community center. Andrew Jensen, 38, of Jefferson was arrested for possession of a controlled substance- third offense in a correctional facility, attempted burglary degree of a vehicle, theft- fifth degree, trespass- first offense, and interference with official acts*. At 7:23 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Highway 144 near 185th north of Dana. Camron Donatlan, 21, of Illinois was cited for speed and no driver’s license. There was also suspected marijuana found in the car that will be sent to the lab for verification.
Monday, Oct 26: At 1:39 pm a deputy and Grand Junction Fire responded to a small fire in a garage in the 300 block of 8th St in Grand Junction. The fire started from construction work. Damage to the garage was minor. At 4:41 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in the 500 block of S. Wise St in Paton.
Sunday, Oct. 25: At 11:48 am a deputy investigated a mail scam in the 1500 block of H Ave in Jackson Township. At 6:28 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 25 near the overpass in Scranton. Kimberly Murphy, 25, of Scranton was northbound and lost control of her 2001 Ford Explorer on the ice-covered bridge . The vehicle rolled several times down the embankment. Murphy was not injured, but damage to the vehicle exceed value.
Saturday, Oct 24: At 10:01 am a deputy initiated a traffic stop on 230th St and X Ave in Junction Township. The driver fled from the deputy, reaching speeds of around 90 mph. The deputy located the vehicle on a closed gravel road on 230th St between C Ave and D Ave in Boone County. The deputy located the driver, Alex Treft, 29, of Grand Junction. Treft was arrested for eluding, 25 mph over the speed limit*. At 5:24 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 700 block of 215th St in Bristol Township. At 7:11 pm a deputy assisted with cattle out on Highway 30 near County Road P-14 (J Ave) west of Jefferson. At 7:35 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 210th St and Highway 30 west of Scranton. Alan Friedman, 55, of Templeton struck a deer with a 2020 Chevrolet Silverado, causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the vehicle. At 8:50 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 100 block of E. Percival St in Rippey.
Friday, Oct. 23: At 9:45 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 2200 block of 185th St in Washington Township.
Thursday, Oct. 22: At 9:23 am Grand Junction fire, Greene County Ambulance, and a deputy responded to house that was struck by lightning in the 1300 block of W Ave in Junction Township. At 10:50 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Churdan in the 700 block of Jay St. At 11:56 am a deputy assisted the Fort Dodge police department with a complaint of forgery at Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. At 7:34 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of domestic assault in the 100 block of 190th St in Kendrick Township. Randall Venteicher, 51, of Scranton was arrested for domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense*. Tara Sheeder, 48, was arrested for domestic abuse assault – first offense*.
Wednesday, Oct. 21: At 6:51 am a deputy assisted the Carroll County sheriff’s office with trying to locate a missing person. At 2:56 pm a deputy assisted the City of Scranton with abatements. At 8:58 pm a deputy assisted a Jefferson officer with a traffic stop on Highway 30 and R Ave east of Jefferson. At 11 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with attempting to locate a wanted person in the 800 block of E. Hager St in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, Oct. 20: At 2:59 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of assault in the 300 block of W. Main St in Rippey.
Monday, Oct. 19: At 2:11 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 and B Ave in Kendrick Township. David Milby of Indiana struck a deer with a 2013 Kenworth tractor causing an estimated $2,500 damage to the vehicle. At 12:59 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of animal neglect in Junction Township in the 1500 block of T Ave. At 4:07 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint in Jefferson at E. Lincoln Way and Chestnut St. Shayla Stephenson, 30, of Grand Junction was arrested for driving while license revoked*. At 4:15 pm a deputy returned to its fence a horse that was running at large in Franklin Township in the 2100 block of Q Ave.
Sunday, Oct. 18: At 7:38 am a deputy assisted a motorist whose vehicle was in the ditch in Washington Township on 280th St near W Ave. There was no damage to the vehicle. At 3;06 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in Jackson Township in the 900 block of 222nd St.
Saturday, Oct. 17: At 12:54 pm a deputy investigated an abandoned boat on the roadway in Paton Township on 120th St and W Ave. At 12:54 pm a deputy and the Grand Junction fire department responded to a cornfield fire in Paton Township near Highway 144 and 150th St.

Thursday, Oct. 15: At 11:46 am a deputy investigated a theft in Paton in the 200 block of N. Wise St. At 4:52 pm a deputy investigated the theft of a hunting blind in Bristol Township near Granite Ave and 215th St.
Wednesday, Oct. 14: At 11:56 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 1100 block of Orchard Ave in Hardin Township.
Tuesday, Oct. 13: At 5:04 am a deputy investigated a complaint of identity theft in the 900 block of Grant St in Scranton. At 2:29 pm a deputy arrested Brittany Smith, 33, of Jefferson on a warrant for failure to appear.
Monday, Oct. 12: At 7:50 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 300 block of 4th St in Rippey. At 3:09 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 300 block of 7th St in Grand Junction. At 6:37 pm a deputy and fire departments from Churdan and Paton responded to debris fire at the Churdan city dumpsite.
Sunday, Oct. 11: At 4:08 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping at Blacks Pit on Highway 30 near Hillcrest Ave west of Jefferson.
Saturday, Oct. 10: At 1:31 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 900 block of 222nd St in Jackson Township. At 8:57 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 900 block of Maple St in Scranton.
Friday, Oct. 9: At 1:01 pm a deputy and the Scranton fire department responded to a field fire on D Ave near 250th St in Scranton Township. A deputy responded to various calls in the city of Jefferson, none of which resulted in charges or impacted public safety.
Thursday, Oct. 8: At 10:36 am a deputy investigated a transient on Highway 30 near Highway 144 at Grand Junction. At 4:48 pm a deputy and the K-9 assisted a Dallas County deputy with a drug search locating suspected marijuana and prescription medications on M Ave and Highway 141.
Wednesday, Oct. 7: At 5:42 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 144 near 185th St in Junction Township. Joshua Turner, 38, of Jefferson struck a deer with a 2003 Chevrolet K2500 HD, causing an estimated $3,500 damage to the vehicle. At 6:30 am the sheriff and deputies investigated a complaint of trespass in the 800 block of 190th St in Bristol Township. At 3:27 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a field fire in the 1800 block of 195th St in Hardin Township. At 3:42 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief on 185th Street and County Road N-58 (A Ave) in Kendrick Township. At 7:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 900 block of Linn St in Scranton. At 10:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 10:22 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 900 block of Main St in Scranton.
Tuesday, Oct. 6: At 5:03 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of someone taking Republican campaign signs out of yards in Dana. Mandy Ivy, 50, of Missouri was stopped and admitted to taking the signs down and throwing them in the yard. She was charged with trespass*. At 6:32 pm a deputy assisted the Perry police department with trying to locate a stolen dog in the 2400 block of 337th St in Washington Township.
Monday, Oct. 5: At 3:13 pm a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a bean field fire in the 1800 block of Highway 4 south of Jefferson. The fire was put out with minimal crop damage.
Sunday, Oct. 4: At 2:45 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in the 900 block of 222nd St in Jackson Township. At 4:43 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of people shooting at Pounds Pit on Highway 144. At 8:32 pm a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Highway 30 and Neola Ave near Jefferson. Shari Allen, 62, of Grand Junction was arrested for operating while intoxicated*. The deputy requested assistance from the Jefferson Police Department. David Rouke Jr, 41, of Grand Junction was arrested for theft- fifth degree as it was found that he had taken lighters from Sparky’s One Stop without paying for them. At 10:58 pm Candice Ortiz, 32, of Grand Junction was arrested on Dallas County warrants.
Saturday, Oct. 3: At 1:46 am a deputy investigated a complaint of noise in the 600 block of N 18th St in Grand Junction. At 6:54 am a deputy struck a deer with a patrol vehicle on County Road E-53 near T Ave in Grant Township. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000. At 12;09 pm a deputy investigated a burglary on County Road N-58 (A Ave) near 180th St in Kendrick Township. At 4:46 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2200 block of W Ave in Washington Township. At 5:45 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with a foot pursuit of burglary suspects n the 100 block of 170th St in Boone County. At 8:50 pm a deputy, Grand Junction fire, Perry fire, Ogden fire, Paton fire, Jefferson fire, Scranton fire and Churdan Fire responded to two structures burning on 19th St and Highway 30 in Grand Junction. The structures were a total loss. At 11:08 pm a deputy conducted a traffic stop near 222nd St and Highway 30 west of Scranton. The driver, Nicholas Thies of Arthur, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. The controlled substance will be sent to the DCI lab for testing. Charges are pending lab results. At 11:27 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 900 block of Hills Ave in Churdan.
Friday, Oct. 2: At 6:31 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 at County Road P-14 (J Ave) near the Raccoon River bridge. Steven Becker, 63, of Scranton struck a deer with a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox, causing an estimated $8,000 damage to the vehicle. At 10:33 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 800 block of Main St E in Grand Junction. At 12:29 pm the sheriff, a deputy, Grand Junction fire and Jefferson fire responded to a standing corn field fire in the 1800 block of 250th St in Junction Township. At 3:53 pm a deputy investigated a fire in the 1100 block of Kirkwood Ave in Bristol Township. The fire was found to be a controlled burn. At 10:22 pm the sheriff and deputies assisted the Jefferson PD with a pursuit in the 500 block of Grimmell Rd.
