Ram boys look good to start cross country season

The Ram cross country team started the 2020 season with a meet Sept. 3 hosted by West Central Valley in Redfield.

The boys finished third in a field of eight teams. Junior Logan Woodruff was the sixth runner across the finish line, posting a time of 18:38. The winning time was 17:45, posted by senior Toby Bower of Nodaway Valley.

Senior Luis Velazco finished 11th with a time of 19:35. Other Ram finishes that made up the team score were junior Jayden Carstensen, 16th place, 19:58; sophomore Ethan Frederick, 17th, 20:13; junior Ethan Larsen, 25th place, 21:03; junior Jax Carstensen, 26th, 21:03; and sophomore Dakota Mobley, 37th place, 21:56.

Also finishing the race were freshman Colby Angell, sophomore Lucas Jablonski, senior Anthony Tolsdorf, sophomore Cade Silbaugh, and freshmen Ethan Coil and Rylan  Larsen.

Kuemper Catholic finished first with a team score of 52. Other places were Nodaway Valley 54, Greene County 75, Grandview Christian 115, CAM 141, Interstate 35 152, Ankeny Christian Academy 180, West Central Valley 183, and Saydel 199.

The girls had only six runners compete, not enough for a team score. Senior Conner Allender led the Rams with a time of 26:35.01, good for 30th place. Sophomore Olivia Shannon finished in 39th place in 29:43. Right behind in 40th place was senior Makala Kafer in 28:45. Other finishes were junior Lucy Dudley, 53rd, 31:25; sophomore Autumn Stevens, 55th, 31:36; and senior Julia Follett, 68th, 37:37.
