Farmers market opens July 14 in Jefferson

The Greene County farmers market is opening for the 2020 summer season on Tuesday, July 14. The market, which features all local products, will run form 4 to 6:30 pm on the east side of the courthouse in Jefferson.

Special arrangements have been made due to COVID-19 concerns and restrictions. Plans are to continue the farmers market every Tuesday throughout the summer and into fall as products are available.

Organizer Chris Henning says there will be a single entrance point and another location for customers to exit. No food service or meals will be available.

Masks are required. Individual masks will be available at the entrance point for a minimal cost. Social distancing will be observed and is expected, both by the vendors and customers.

“Our farmers market features local food raised by local producers so it’s as safe as it possibly can be,” stressed Henning. “We hope customers will come to get fruit and vegetables. We’ve been promised the sweet corn will be ready soon.”

Hidden Acres Ranch, owned and operated by Mike and Deb Carter of rural Coon Rapids, is eager to get the market going. “We miss seeing our customers and we have so many delicious veggies right now.” ~courtesy of The Scranton Journal
