The Greene County softball team fell to the Roland-Story Norsemen for their fourth consecutive loss on Thursday, June 25.
Freshman Emma Hoyle started once again for the Rams. Hoyle allowed no earned runs and six unearned runs in her six innings on the mound. She gave up five hits while walking three batters and striking out five.
At the plate, the Rams had no better than a solid day. The team collected seven hits, all of which were singles, and were walked three times. Kyla Beyers and Izzy Bravard led the way for the Rams as they each had two hits. Freshmen Emma Stream and Olivia Shannon each had one hit and were walked one time.
In the field, the Rams struggled mightily. They committed six errors, all but one of which came in the infield.
The Rams played well enough to win yet again, but mistakes proved costly for them. After scoring one run in each of the first and third innings, the Rams were leading the game 2-0. The Norsemen quickly answered with three runs of their own in the bottom of the third inning. Both teams scored again in the fifth inning, with the Rams scoring two runs and the Norsemen scoring three. The Rams fell by a score of 6-4.
The Rams will look to end their losing streak on Senior Night as they take on the Nevada Cubs on Monday, June 29.
