Greene County baseball lost their fifth game of the season after falling to the Roland-Story Norsemen on Thursday, June 25.
The Rams got a largely strong showing out of both their pitchers. Senior Brent Riley got the start and allowed four earned runs and unearned run in 5 2/3 innings of work. Riley walked three batters, hit another and struck out five. Junior Payton Kinsey closed out the game for the Rams, pitching the final out.
At the plate, Rams bats went quiet after the first inning where they got three hits. The team totaled four hits on the evening. Tyler Teeples led the way for the Rams with two hits, both of which were singles.
The Rams were able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning but were shutout the rest of the way offensively. The Norsemen were able to put their unearned run across the plate in the bottom of the third inning and exploded in the bottom of the sixth inning for four runs to win the game. The Rams fell in this game by a score of 5-2.
Greene County looks to end their losing streak and earn their first win of the season as they take on the Nevada Cubs on Monday, June 29.
