The Greene County softball team suffered the second loss of the season, this one to the Gilbert Tigers, on Friday, June 19.
On the mound, freshman Emma Hoyle pitched her second complete game of the season and held the Tigers to three earned runs with just one unearned. Hoyle allowed five hits on the evening, while walking four batters, striking out five, and hitting another.
At the plate, the Rams had their better game of this young season. While unable to get any walks on the evening, the team slugged 10 hits, all singles. Camryn Paup had three hits while Izzy Bravard and Olivia Shannon added two of their own.
In the field, the Rams committed two errors, both in the infield.
The Rams were able to jump to a lead and hold it until the bottom of the fifth inning when the Tigers scored three runs to tie the game at three. Gilbert then crossed the plate once more in the bottom of the sixth inning to take the lead and the 4-3 win.
