Construction of new high school, career academy on schedule

Construction on the new Greene County High School and regional career academy continues to go very well and is on track for completion as originally planned, according to school superintendent Tim Christensen.

The career academy, academic wing, band/vocal classrooms, and commons are all slated to be completed by Aug. 1. The gymnasium is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 15, and the auditorium is scheduled for completion in October.

Classrooms and lab spaces in the career academy are being painted. Flooring and cabinets will be installed in the next month.

Classrooms in the academic wing have been painted, cabinets and carpet are installed and ceiling tile gridwork has been hung. Bathrooms have been tiled and fixtures have been set. The elevator has also been installed.

In the gymnasium area, the divider curtain and basketball hoops have been installed and painting is being completed along with finishing work on ductwork for the HVAC system.

The concrete floor has been poured in the commons area.

All the concrete for the flooring has been poured in the auditorium and now work is being completed on ductwork and running conduit for electrical, lights, and sound. A majority of the concrete for parking lots and access roads has been completed. There is one strip of the south parking lot yet to pour as well as the pad for the greenhouse.
