A private graveside service funeral service was held May 28 at Junction Township Cemetery west of Grand Junction for Verla Anderson, 89, of Grand Junction.
Words of comfort were offered by Chaplain Kelly Gafkjen. Honorary bearers were Verla’s granddaughters. Casket bearers were her grandsons.
Verla Jean Brobst Anderson was born December 14, 1930 at Webster City. She was the daughter of Roy and Vera Ritchie Brobst.Verla has been a long-time resident of Grand Junction, moving there in 1947. She was the postmaster in Grand Junction for 25 years, retiring in 1992. She belonged to First United Methodist Church in Grand Junction and was a member of the United Methodist Women. She coordinated funeral luncheons for the church for many years. Verla was a member of the Grand Junction Business Women, Elcarim, Cimota, and Rebeka Lodge#448. Verla was an avid bowler and she was inducted into the Iowa Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
Verla Anderson passed away May 25, 2020, at Regency Park Nursing and Rehab Center in Jefferson. She was 89 years of age. She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Sheryl Hoefle, two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Verla’s family was her life! She is survived by her children Jeff (Cindy) Anderson of Grand Junction, Marla (David) Choate of Webster City, and Molle (Kenny) Schmidt of Jefferson; son-in-law Terry Hoefle of Grand Junction; sister, Madalyn (Cliff) Thompson of Boone; many grandchildren, lots of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue.
