Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s department:
Thursday, April 30: At 1:38 am a deputy investigated a careless driving complaint in Jefferson. The deputy located the car and a pursuit followed. Steven Dzuris, 32, of Jefferson was later arrested after a short pursuit. He was charged with eluding, interference with official acts, assault on persons in certain occupations, and reckless driving*. He was also cited for failure to obey a stop sign*. At 8:24 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of Main St in Scranton. At 11:20 am a deputy assisted the city of Scranton with an abatement in the 1100 block of Lincoln St. At 2:29 pm a deputy assisted Guthrie County law enforcement with looking for a burglary suspect in Paton. At 4:42 pm a deputy, the Churdan fire department and Greene County Ambulance responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 4 in Churdan. Tianna Lowe, 27, of Jefferson was westbound driving a 2013 Hyundai Sonata when she became distracted and crossed the center line. She struck a 2008 Lincoln MKX operated and owned by Sara Vial, 37, of Pocahontas. The airbags in Vial’s vehicle deployed. Three persons were transported to Greene County Medical Center, with two transported by Greene County Ambulance and one transported by Churdan rescue. Lowe was cited for failure to yield half the roadway. Damage to her vehicle was estimated at $10,000. Damage to Vial’s vehicle were estimated to exceed value. At 5:54 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Highway 144 near 160th St in Paton Township. Jerry Erickson, 76, of Paton was driving a 2003 Yamaha XT225 motorcycle when the front tire blew out, causing him to lose control of the bike. Erickson was transported to the Greene County ER by Greene County Ambulance with injuries. Grand Junction fire and rescue also responded to the scene. At 7:17 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on A Avenue on the railroad tracks at Ralston. Jennifer Bailey, 42, of Coon Rapids lost control of her 2003 GMC Envoy on the railroad tracks and entered the east ditch, rolling the vehicle. Ralston fire and a Carroll County Ambulance responded to the scene. Bailey was transported to St Anthony Regional Medical Center in Carroll with minor injuries. The vehicle was a total loss.
Wednesday, April 29: At 2:33 am a deputy investigated a complaint of people burglarizing a house in the 1000 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 2:36 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with trespass complaint in the 1000 block of West Lincoln Way. Steven Dzuris, 32, of Jefferson was charged and arrested for trespass (simple misdemeanor)*. At 4:07 am a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on 264th Street near S Ave in Grant Township. Ann Adams, 67, of Grand Junction lost control of her 2013 Honda Civic and entered the ditch, causing an estimated $10,000 damage to the car. Nobody was injured and all airbags were deployed. At 1:05 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 900 block of 222nd St in Jackson Township. At 9:07 pm a deputy assisted the Churdan fire department with a power pole and ditch on fire on 160th Street near County Road P-14 (I Ave) south of Churdan.
Tuesday, April 28: At 4:44 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a 3-vehicle accident on Highway 30 at Grimmell Road. At5:28 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 500 block of N. Elm St in Jefferson.
Monday, April 27: At 1:35 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of E. Main St in Scranton. At 6:17 pm a deputy arrested Michelle Cook, 20, of Jefferson on arrest warrants for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Sunday, April 26: At 3:19 pm a deputy investigated a dog running at large at Livingston and Jay Sts in Churdan. At 6:55 pm a deputy investigated a burning complaint in the 800 block of E. Railroad St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, April 25: At 8:04 am a deputy, an ISP trooper, Greene County Ambulance, and Jefferson fire department responded to a two-vehicle head-on collision in the 1200 block of 180th St in Bristol Township. Roger Custer, 72, of Jefferson was eastbound driving a 1991 Chevy K2500 pickup truck towing a trailer loaded with a tractor. Thomas Custer, 66, of Jefferson was westbound driving a 2011 Chevy K1500 pickup truck. Their vehicles collided head-on in the dense fog. The sheriff reported Greene County Ambulance transported both drivers with minor injuries to Greene County Medical Center. At 8:57 am a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 500 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction. At 5:57 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an intoxicated subject in the 1000 block of W. Lincoln Way. At 7:35 pm a deputy and the Churdan fire department responded to a hay fire in the 200 block of Kirkwood Ave in Highland Township.
Friday, April 24: At 2:55 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint on the railroad tracks near 6th St in Grand Junction. At 8:24 am the sheriff, a deputy, and the Iowa State Patrol responded to a single vehicle accident on D Ave near 300th St in Willow Township. The Iowa State Patrol investigated the accident. At 4:26 pm a deputy investigated an assault in the 1000 block of Eagle St in Scranton. Sandra Burris, 73, of Scranton was arrested for assault- simple*. At 5:30 pm a deputy arrested James Cunningham, 45, of Jefferson on an active arrest warrant for unauthorized use of a credit card more than $1,500*.
Thursday, April 23: At 2:28 am a deputy investigated suspicious activity near the Grand Junction sewer plant. At 7:32 am the sheriff investigated a reported accident on County Road P-14 (J Ave) on the railroad tracks south of Highway 30. The vehicle had left the scene after catching a large piece of the crossing, tearing it out. The southbound lane of P-14 is closed until the tracks are repaired. At 11:11 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint on 240th St and F Ave in Jackson Township.
Wednesday, April 22: At 12:03 am a deputy assisted the Carroll police department with locating a missing child. At 2:06 am a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 2200 block of 337th St in Washington Township. At 5:15 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on Y Avenue near 235th St in Junction Township. Christian Andres, 20, of Perry turned from 235th St onto Y Ave in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. He lost control of the vehicle and entered the ditch, causing an estimated $2,500 damage to the vehicle. Andres was cited for no insurance and failure to maintain control. At 7:34 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 2400 block of 337th St in Washington Township.
Tuesday, April 21: At 1:50 am a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Rippey. At 7:34 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of State St in Scranton. At 2:50 pm the sheriff investigated a single vehicle rollover accident on 160th St near P Ave in Dawson Township. Keaton Bass, 18, of Fort Dodge lost control of a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu and rolled it onto its top in the north ditch of 160th St. The driver and passengers were wearing seatbelts; there were no injuries. The vehicle was totaled in the accident. At 8:03 am a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Churdan.
Monday, April 20: At 12:52 am a deputy located a person who called 911 who had fallen and did not know where he was. The person was located at 4:16 am at 150th St and Orchard Ave in Dawson Township. Greene County Ambulance responded to the location and transported the subject to Greene County Medical Center. At 2:03 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 2000 block of 237th St in Junction Township. At 7:06 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in Grand Junction.
Sunday, April 19: At 8:01 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 1200 block of W Ave in Scranton Township. At 12:22 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of kids playing on the closed bike trail bridge. Four youngsters ages 11 to 14 were located on the down portion of the bridge. At 1:37 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 400 block of S. 9th St in Grand Junction. At 2:53 pm a deputy investigated a single vehicle accident on 225th St and Oakland Ave in Grant Township. The vehicle was gone when the deputy arrived. At 4:38 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a 4-wheeler on 120th St and W Ave in Paton Township. At 7:37 pm a deputy investigated an animal neglect complaint in Scranton. At 9:50 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person in the 900 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Saturday, April 18: At 10:43 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in Grand Junction. At 1:52 pm Dale Arey, 57, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail for a violation of a protective order*. At 2:32 pm Kathy Arey, 50, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail for a violation of a protective order*. At 2:55 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal hunting in the 200 block of N. Dana St in Dana. At 3:28 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 800 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 7:33 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 200 block of S. 19th St in Grand Junction. At 8:06 pm the sheriff investigated a complaint of illegal camping in the 900 block of 222nd St in Jackson Township.
Friday, April 17: At 5:53 am a deputy assisted with cattle out on 300th St and A Ave in Willow Township. At 1:32 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Grand Junction. At 4:37 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 200 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction. At 5:01 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious male in the 1100 block of Lincoln St in Scranton. At 6:44 pm a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in Grand Junction. At 7:47 pm a deputy investigated suspicious activity in the 200 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Thursday, April 16: At 4:14 pm the sheriff, a deputy, Jefferson fire department, and Greene County Ambulance responded to a single vehicle rollover accident in the 1700 block of County Road E-26 (170th St) in Hardin Township. Suzanne Duckett, 38, of Jefferson lost control of her 2013 Toyota Highlander and rolled it onto its top in the north ditch. The vehicle was totaled in the accident. The driver and passenger had minor injuries.
Wednesday, April 15: At 3:08 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Rippey. At 7:47 pm a deputy arrested Riley Rittgers, 23, of Paton on arrest warrants for permitting under age 18 persons to consume alcohol and a department of public health violation*.

Saturday, April 11: At 7:18 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of a large gathering at the Churdan school. It was found that people were driving around in vehicles.
Friday, April 10: At 1:13 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of State St in Scranton. At 3:25 pm Daniel Newton, 30, of Grand Junction was booked into the jail for attempted burglary- third degree*. At 11:04 pm a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Grand Junction. Melynda Weltha, 44, and Michael McAtee, 58, both of Grand Junction, were arrested for domestic abuse assault- first offense*.
Thursday, April 9: At 12:30 pm a deputy investigated obscene material being sent to a child in Grand Junction. At 4:28 pm the sheriff investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in the 700 block of S. 11th St in Grand Junction. At 6:18 pm a deputy investigated a power pole that arcing at 110th St and Highway 144 in Paton Township. At 8:15 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 300 block of S. 7th St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, April 8: At 7:22 am a deputy dispatched a wounded deer on Linwood Ave near Wall St on the west edge of Jefferson. At 11:22 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Scranton. George Glasgow, 48, of Scranton was arrested for domestic abuse assault– third or subsequent offense*. At 2:57 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of trespass in Grand Junction. At 2:57 pm the sheriff and deputies investigated a domestic assault in Paton. At 4:58 pm a deputy arrested Andrew Gathercoal, 26, of Grand Junction on a warrant for possession of controlled substance– first offense and possession of drug paraphernalia*.
Tuesday, April 7: At 1:39 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in the 500 block of S. Wise St in Paton. At 10:04 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal dumping in the 1800 block of 195th St in Hardin Township.
Monday, April 6: At 9:24 am a deputy investigated a possible vicious dog in the 600 block of Irving St in Scranton. At 6:12 pm a deputy investigated a dog running at large in the 500 block of 240th St in Scranton Township. At 9:55 pm a deputy assisted with an anhydrous leak in the 400 block of Percival St in Rippey. At 10:39 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 500 block of 2nd St in Rippey.
Sunday, April 5: At 12:38 pm a deputy investigated a dog running at large in the 500 block of H Ave in Highland Township. At 4:38 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 500 block of Head St in Churdan.
Saturday, April 4: At 5:59 pm a deputy investigated a fraud complaint in the 600 block of S. 14th St in Grand Junction.
Friday, April 3: At 2:09 pm a deputy investigated a fraud complaint in the 400 block of N. 18th St in Grand Junction. At 11:26 pm the sheriff, deputies and Gowrie PD investigated a large gathering in the 200 block of Q Ave in Dawson Township. Citations for possession of alcohol under age were issued to 34 persons age 18-20. Seven persons younger than 18 were charged with possession of alcohol under age, taken to the Law Enforcement Center, and released to their parents. Levi Hollingshead, 18, of Boone was arrested for possession of alcohol under age.* All subjects were required to call for rides from the residence. About 10 persons age 21 and older were present. The renter of the property was cited for providing alcohol to minors.
Thursday, April 2: At 9:37 am the sheriff assisted Boone County with a structure fire in the 400 block of 320th St in Boone County. At 10:34 am a deputy investigated a burglary in the 800 block of E. Main St in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, April 1: At 5:39 am a deputy and the Jefferson fire department responded to a tree that was on fire on Highway 4 near 330th St in Franklin Township. At 2:12 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to head stones at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. At 2:23 pm a deputy investigated criminal mischief to the Churdan city park. At 8:24 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of too many people gathering at Highway 30 and 18th St in Grand Junction.
