A judgment was entered Feb. 28 in Greene County district court against Scott Randolph Luke, 31, of Garner after he pleaded guilty to a charge of theft- fifth degree, amended from theft- fourth degree. Luke was fined $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. He is jointly and severally liable with Allyssa Luke for $412 victim restitution and he must pay $100 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. Mark Allen Mendenhall, 47, of Fort Dodge was sentenced March 2 14 years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to two counts of forgery and two counts of identity theft. The sentencing was enhanced on the forgery charges as Mendenhall is a habitual offender. He was sentenced to five years in prison on each of the forgery counts and two years in prison on each of the identity theft counts. The prison terms are consecutive to each other but concurrent to sentences in Polk County. He was fined $750 with a $262.50 surcharge and a $125 LEI surcharge on each of the four counts. The fines and surcharges were suspended, but he must pay the LEI surcharge. The court found him unable to pay victim restitution. Court costs were $140. (Sentencing: Honorable Christopher C. Polking)
David Allan Holley, 50, of Scranton was sentenced March 3 to seven days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail term was suspended and he was placed on informal probation for one year. He must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense. Holley was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE) and a $125 LEI surcharge. Court costs were $100. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Juan Angel Guzman, 32, of Jefferson, theft- fourth degree; Esequiel Gonzalez Guzman, 49, of Perry, driving while license revoked; and Jacob Alexander Roby, 22, of Boone, possession of marijuana. Trial dates were set for April 7 in every case.
Information is available since the return of an arrest warrant that Michael Devilbiss, 35, of Perry is charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. The warrant was issued 9/11/2018 and returned March 5.
A case was initiated March 3 against Kurt A. Schoon, 64, of Scranton on charges of operating while intoxicated, possession of marijuana and possession of methamphetamine.
