Rippey sesqui fundraiser a success

~by Mary Weaver Approximately 80 persons came to have a late summer meal at the Rippey Community Center Saturday evening, Aug. 24. The meal consisted of pulled pork sandwiches, chips, baked beans, bars, and a beverage. Attendees were generous with their donations as $611 was donated to advance the funding for Rippey’s sesquicentennial, which will be held Aug. 1, 2020.

New cellular tower a bonus for county taxpayers

Construction of the career academy and high school hasn’t been the only work site for huge cranes recently. A tall crane has been at the county law enforcement center erecting a new communications tower. The $750,000 tower, which was needed to comply with the new Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS), is being installed at no expense to county taxpayers.

A judgment was entered in Greene County magistrate court Aug. 28 against Laura Nicole Cox of Nevada on a charge of trespass- first offense (casino self-exclusion).
