Greene County basketball teams lost a doubleheader to Prairie City-Monroe on Tuesday, Dec. 17.
The Ram girls quickly fell behind as PCM tossed in 23 points in the first period while Greene County scored five. At the break the Mustangs owned a 30-point advantage 39-9. The Rams kept pace in the third quarter as each team tallied 25 points, but GC was still down 30, 55-25. PCM went on to win 67-32.
Brianna Habben scored 10 points and blocked two Mustang shots. Izzy Bravard matched Habben’s 10 points while dishing five assists. Sadie Wilson grabbed seven rebounds and Natalie Heupel had six.
Regan Freland was the Mustang’s driving force, scoring 32 points.
The GC girls sank six three-pointers but struggled to get other baskets to fall. They hit 12 of 41 from the field for 29 percent. They were outrebounded by PCM 52-31.
Scoring just five points in the first period and seven in the second, the Greene County boys basketball team was down 35-12 at halftime against Prairie City-Monroe Tuesday evening in Jefferson.
The Rams rallied in the third to score 18 points in the third, but were down 51-30 going into the final frame. The Mustangs outscored GC 19-10 in the fourth, winning 70-40.
Cael Fisher was high scorer for the Rams, tallying nine points, followed by Bryce Stalder with seven and Carter Morton with six.
PCM’s duo, Derek Brown and Durant Van Dyke, poured in 30 and 22 respectively.
Caden Lowmiller and Skylar Ripperger each grabbed four rebounds.
The Rams made 16 of 49 field goals for 33 percent while PCM hit 27 of 45 for 60 percent. The Rams were also outrebounded 21-18.
