Enhancing learning through play was the focus of the 2019 Greene County Community Foundation (GCCF) grant awarded to the Greene County Early Learning Center (GCELC). The grant of $4,834 was used to improve the comfort of the playground learning environment including outdoor furniture and activities focused on the areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
Research shows that every dollar invested in quality care and education for our youngest children results in high returns not only to each child and family, but also in the form of future gains in the community such as reliable care for the work force and increased economic development. GCELC executive director Cherie Cerveny said, “children thrive when their physical environment is comfortable, secure and developmentally appropriate. We are grateful to GCCF for the assistance to enhance learning.”
