Jefferson Matters’ investment drive under way

The annual investment drive for Jefferson Matters: Main Street was kicked off in early November. Donations to the non-profit (501c3) program help fund the projects and expenses involved for the organization for the coming year.

The theme of “Setting Our Sights on 2020” was selected and a thermometer of the Mahanay Bell Tower was built by volunteer Marc McGinn. The tower is located by the Jefferson Matters: Main Street office at 110 W Lincoln Way. As the donations come in, the tower will be marked to reach the board’s goal of $75,000 invested for programming for 2020.

Investors to the Main Street program can be individuals, businesses, and organizations who want to support the non-profit program in their mission to strengthen, support and energize Jefferson’s downtown through historic preservation. This is not a membership organization with every Main Street business included in projects. Jefferson was named a Main Street community in 2012 and is a model for rural development, recently hosting the Main Street Iowa fall workshop in late October.

An incentive for individuals, organizations and businesses to make their investments before Dec. 31, has been provided by the organization team wich is in charge of this funding drive. Each investor’s name will be entered into a drawing for a Main Street Experience Package which includes a season pass for the Mahanay Bell Tower, Sierra Theatre gift certificate, Spare Time Lanes & Lounge gift certificate, Peony Chinese Restaurant gift certificate and Doc’s Stadium gift certificate with a total value of $100.
