Greenbrier holds family potluck, welcomes new members
The Greenbrier 4-H club’s family potluck was held Sunday, Nov. 3, at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson with 70 parents and member in attendance. This annual event celebrated the accomplishments of the club and its members over the last year.
Caden Etherton welcomed people, and after the meal, called the meeting to order. Sadie Gilbertson led the introduction of families, and Noble Hoyt and Sadie were the “game hosts” for the day, leading the Human Scavenger Hunt.
Bailey Anderson recalled Greenbrier’s activities for the last year, including the many Iowa State Fair projects they had.
Caden handed out tenure certificates and seals. Those included one year – Autumn Barrett, Joel Schroeder, Nehemiah Hoyt, Elle Happe, Autumn Stevens, and Dakota Ostrander; two years – Sadie Shannon, Kaitlyn Halterman, Becca Anderson, Aden Bardole, Cayden Stream, Kaleah Messer, Colton Mobley, and Nicholas Stream; three years – Elise Badger, Ely Booth, Naphtali Hoyt, and Dalton Ostrander; four years – Sadie Gilbertson, Grace Hardaway, Elias Messer, and Cody Stephenson; five years – Katrina and Natalie Heupel, Noble Hoyt, Olivia Shannon, Emma Halterman, Caden Etherton, and Bailey Anderson; six years – Amie Schroeder and Justin Stream; seven years – Avery Bardole and Conner Allender; eight years – Brian Hardaway; and nine years – Arthur Bardole, Gina Brown, and Kara Reed.
Each Greenbrier member told about the most fun he had in 4-H this year, as Caden and Noble handed each of them their 4-H record books.
Final comments included 4-H enrollments being due Nov. 15 to avoid an extra fee; and signing up for Christmas Shoeboxes occurring Nov. 3, 4, and 5. Greene County’s 4-H new member night will be held starting at the Extension Office and then going to Spare Time Lanes, on Friday, Nov. 15, at 6 pm.
Greenbrier’s next meeting will be Sunday, Dec. 1, at 1 pm at Spare Time Lanes.
