Brittany Gunn was recently named Miss Rodeo Iowa 2020 during a two-day competition in Fort Madison that took place in conjunction with the Tri-State Rodeo.
Gunn will take over the title on Jan. 1, from fellow Iowan and 2019 Miss Rodeo Iowa Rachael Ostrem, who is from Radcliffe.
The contestants are involved in extensive interviews over rodeo knowledge, current events, equine science, and competitions in events such as prepared and impromptu speaking, horsemanship, personal interviews and a written test. They are also judged on their appearance and personality.
Brittany is the daughter of Charles and Robin Gunn of Grand Junction. She completed her bachelor of liberal arts from Graceland University in May 2016. She now works as a social worker at Greene County Medical Center’s long term care unit.
During 2020, Gunn will travel more than 30,000 miles throughout the state and country promoting the sport of professional rodeo, animal welfare, agriculture and the “western lifestyle” in Iowa.
Gunn will be honored this winter with a Coronation Celebration, which will include a meal, silent and live auctions and the official crowning, and she will wrap up her reign in December 2020, competing in the Miss Rodeo America Pageant in Las Vegas, NV.
