William (Bill) Wallace Taute, longtime resident of Paton, passed away peacefully at the age of 73 on September 12, 2019, at the VA Hospice in Des Moines. The family was fortunate to all have a chance to say goodbye.
Bill was born Nov. 15, 1945, in Fort Dodge. He was the son of Lyle Taute and Lois (Lane) Taute. Bill attended school in Humboldt. He served in the Navy from 1963-1965. He owned his own business, Quad County Ag Service in Paton, for 35 years.
Bill married his wife, Kathalene Leadley, in 1965. They were married 54 years. They raised three children: Melissa, Gina and Chad in Paton and were blessed with five grandchildren.
Bill enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, spending summers in Okoboji and winters in Florida. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his little buddy, Maynard.
He is survived by his wife Kathy Taute of West Des Moines; daughters Melissa (Heath) Smidt of Grimes and Gina (Jerry) Schneider of Churdan; and son Chad (Dawn) Taute of Paton; grandchildren Taylor Smidt, Macy and Alec Schneider, and Madisyn and Mylo Taute; brothers Dick (Carole) Taute, Jim Taute and Jon Taute; and sister Kellie Powers; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-laws Lori (Kevin) Bauer and Michele (Kent) Paeper; and mother-in-law Shirley Leadley
Proceeding him in death were his parents Lyle Taute and Lois Smith; father-in law Bill Leadley; and granddaughter Murphy Taute.
A private Celebration of Life was held for immediate family.
