Election Day is Nov. 5
There will be contested races in the Jefferson, Scranton, Grand Junction city elections and for a seat on the Greene County Schools board in the Nov. 5 general election.
In Jefferson, longtime mayor Craig Berry is being challenged by council member Matt Gordon. There are three candidates for city council – incumbents Dave Sloan and Matt Wetrich, along with Sean Sebourn. There are two council positions up for election.
In Grand Junction, Pierre Kellogg is running unopposed for mayor. With two council positions expiring, Chad Wilson, Brian Mount and Brandon Mount filed nominating papers.
Scranton mayor Cole Gustoff is running unopposed for re-election. Vying for three council positions are Ashley Squibb, Jeramie Phillips, Cassidy Wilson and Zach Sukovaty.
Churdan voters will elect two persons to the council via write-in. Andrew Hamilton is the only person who filed papers to run for three council positions. Mayor Joleen Killeen is running unopposed for re-election.
Dana mayor Mandy Sims is running for re-election as is council member Kellie Madison. There is one term expiring on the council.
Paton mayor Steve Burrell is also running for re-election. With three terms expiring on the council, Judy Wilson, Casey Kaufman and Chris Sprecher are candidates.
In Rippey, mayor Daniel Brubaker is running unopposed for re-election. Council candidates are Richard Liebich, Ned Johnston and Jon Allen. Voters will elect three.
The Greene County Community Schools board will see changes, decreasing in size from seven to five directors. Voters will elect two directors, with incumbents John McConnell and Steve Fisher seeking re-election and Randy Lebeck running as well. Longtime board members Sam Harding and Mark Peters are not running for re-election.
Two directors’ terms expire in the Paton-Churdan district. Incumbent David Palmer and Kelly Minnihan are candidates.
This is the first election cycle that combines the school election, previously held in September, with the city election.
