The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library will host the annual fall used book sale Sept. 14-21 in the library basement. The sale is an opportunity to stock up on plenty of winter reading and start Christmas shopping, book sale chair Barb Labate said.
Books sold include large print, mysteries, romance, cookbooks, history, inspirational fiction, and children’s books. Other items include DVDs, jigsaw puzzles, games, and audio books. There will be daily specials from Monday through Friday. The book sale is open during regular library hours with the exception of being open only one evening, Monday from 6 to 8 pm.
The Friends of the Library book sale is open to members only the first Saturday of the sale, Sept. 14. Memberships may be purchased ahead of time from the adult library desk. Organizers suggest purchasing a membership for the best selection of books and DVDs. Memberships begin at $5 for an individual and $10 for a family.
Current members can check with a librarian to update their annual membership.
All other days the sale will be open to the public without charge.
Serious bargain shoppers should attend the last day of the sale, Sept. 21, for the best bargains. Friends of the Library will furnish shoppers with a brown paper grocery bag to fill with books for only $4. Books or items that are individually priced are sold at half price.
The Friends of the Jefferson Public Library hosts this annual used book sale as its major fundraiser for the community library. All proceeds received from memberships and book sales go directly to the library, and purchases at the sale enable the library to offer more resources for everyone to use and enjoy.
The Friends look forward to seeing familiar faces and new ones, too. Persons who want more information can call Barb Labate at 515-386-5547
