Elks provide funds for meals for needy kids
Jefferson Elks lodge 2306 last week presented Greene County Schools a check for $600 for the school nutrition program. Funds from the Elks Gratitude Grant will be used to supplement school meal costs for children whose parents can’t provide the necessary money for breakfast or lunch tickets.

The meal consisted of pulled pork sandwiches, chips, baked beans, bars, and a beverage. Attendees were generous with their donations as $611 was donated to advance the funding for Rippey’s sesquicentennial, which will be held Aug. 1, 2020.

A tall crane has been at the county law enforcement center erecting a new communications tower. The $750,000 tower, which was needed to comply with the new Iowa Statewide Interoperable Communications System (ISICS), is being installed at no expense to county taxpayers.
