The Greene County boys and girls cross country teams both placed 11th at the Gilbert Cross County Invitational, held Aug. 29 on the Iowa State University cross country course in Ames. Coach Jeff Lamoureux said the competition is always tough at the Gilbert meet as many of the top teams in the state compete.
In the boys Class A race, Logan Woodruff was the first Ram to cross the finish line in 46th place. Other places were Luis Velazco 53, Connor Burs 59, Dakota Mobley 70, Ethan Larsen 71, Jose Velazco 77 and Ethan Frederick 85. Exact times are not available due to a technical problem with the meet timing device.
Team scores were Dallas Center-Grimes 47, Norwalk 63, Gilbert 73, North Polk 106, Bondurant-Farrar 142, Ballard 192, Newton 226, Roland-Story 236, Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) 244, Nevada 274, Greene County 299, Boone 317, PCM 3919, Hoover High School (DSM) 482.
Ashlee Harmeyer led the Ram girls, finishing in 50th place. Other places were Kassie Lamoureux 51, Makala Kafer 72, Autumn Stevens 77, Olivia Shannon 78, Tieryn Tucker 92 and Kayla Muir 93.
