Following are excerpts of activities reported by the Greene County sheriff’s office:
Wednesday, July 31: At 2 pm the sheriff investigated a reported theft in Grand Junction. At 4:09 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction. At 11:08 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 4 near 250th St south of Jefferson. Shannon Funcke, 48, of Jamaica struck a deer with her 2012 Chrysler Town and Country minivan, causing an estimated $2,000 in damage to the vehicle.
Tuesday, July 30: At 10:51 am a deputy investigated a theft in the 2300 block of Quest Ave in Franklin Township.
Monday, July 29: At 12:26 am a deputy checked the welfare of dogs in Scranton. At 2:47 pm a deputy attempted to locate a dog running at large in Churdan. At 4:01 pm a deputy received a call of cattle out on 252nd St near the Raccoon River Valley Trail in Grant Township. At 7:24 pm a deputy received a call of sheep in the ditch on Highway 30 near L Ave west of Jefferson. At 10:01 pm a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office with locating two human subjects in Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 28: At 12:08 am a deputy was called to assist with locating some keys at Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. Gisela Guerrero, 52, of Dawson was arrested for public intoxication*. At 3:13 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in Scranton. At 4:06 pm a deputy investigated an assault in Grand Junction. At 4:35 pm a deputy investigated a theft in the 700 block of D Ave in Kendrick Township. At 7:31 pm a deputy investigated a two-vehicle accident on Highway 30 near Forest Ave east of Scranton. Warren Hass, 41, of Denison was eastbound driving his 2019 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when he was rear-ended by Sheral Coppick, 61, of Carroll. Coppick sustained minor injuries and was transported by Greene County Ambulance to Greene County Medical Center. A passenger in the pickup truck was also transported with injuries. The Iowa State Patrol assisted with the accident and is investigating Coppick for possible charges. Damage to her 2008 Volkwagon Beetle was estimated at $6,000. Damage to Hass’ vehicle was estimated at $3,000. At 9:42 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 100 block of 190th St in Kendrick Township. At 10:50 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in the 2200 block of County Road N-58 (A Ave) in Willow Township.
Saturday, July 27: At 1:35 am a deputy investigated a domestic assault in Grand Junction. Michael McAtee, 57, of Grand Junction was arrested for domestic abuse assault- first offense*. At 8:56 am and 9:32 am a deputy investigated thefts at Spring Lake.
Friday, July 26: At 4:55 pm a deputy assisted with a vehicle that had rolled into the water at Spring Lake. Keaton Mosher, 32, of Callender left his truck in neutral and it rolled down a hill and into the water. There was no damage to the truck. At 9:12 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-53 near Quaker Ave west of Grand Junction. Terri Ross, 59, of Grand Junction struck a deer with her 2015 Ford Edge. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000.
Thursday, July 25: At 2:49 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Rippey. At 6:48 pm a deputy investigated complaint of a train blocking the roadway on Highway 30 in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, July 24: At 7:58 am a deputy investigated a medical alarm in the 600 block of B Ave in Kendrick Township. The subject was located in Des Moines. At 2:32 pm a deputy investigated an abandoned vehicle at McMahon Access in Scranton Township.
Tuesday, July 23: At 3:23 pm a deputy investigated a burglary in Grand Junction. At 8:39 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 900 block of 200th St in Bristol Township.
Monday, July 22: At 1:02 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Grand Junction. At 3:34 am a deputy investigated a complaint of loud music in Churdan. At 10:49 am a deputy assisted the Boone County sheriff’s office and the Perry PD with a semi tractor-trailer rollover allowing hogs to run loose on Highway 144 near the Angus curve. At 12:30 pm a deputy picked up a stray dog in the 2200 block of County Road P-14 (J Ave) and took it to the animal holding facility. At 3:39 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint at the Grand Junction swimming pool. At 10:10 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal burning in Grand Junction.
Sunday, July 21: At 12:45 am a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with an arrest in Jefferson. At 10:55 am a deputy investigated a burglary in Scranton.
Saturday, July 20: At 5:33 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 and D Ave west of Scranton. Dallas Chargo, 35, of Scranton struck a deer with a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $500. At 4:23 pm a deputy, Greene County Ambulance and the Jefferson fire department responded to an electrical fire at Wild Rose Casino. At 4:29 pm a deputy responded to a tree on the roadway on County Road E-53 (235th St) near T Ave. At 4:52 pm a deputy responded to a tree on the roadway in the 1600 block of Highway 4 south of Jefferson. At 6:19 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Grand Junction.
Friday, July 19: At 10:13 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 900 block of E Ave in Kendrick Township. At 2:57 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a possible violation of a no contact order. At 8:42 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a medical call in the 900 block of W. Harrison St.
Thursday, July 18: At 1:27 am a deputy investigated a complaint of burning in Scranton. At 7:34 am a deputy investigated the theft of a vehicle in the 1200 block of L Ave in Bristol Township. At 9:30 am a deputy investigated a complaint of illegal digging in the 300 block of 150th St in Cedar Township. At 11 am a deputy arrested Ronald Becker, 48, of Carroll on arrest warrants for driving while license barred and eluding*. (See the Police Blotter for 7/17.) At 11:10 am a deputy investigated a theft in Churdan. At 1:57 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 2200 block of 270th St in Washington Township. At 4:51 pm a deputy investigated a car-tractor accident on V Ave and 330th St in Washington Township. Patrick Kennedy, 34, of Jefferson was northbound on V Ave when he struck the rear of an International Farmall tractor driven by Curt Muir, 48, of Rippey. Muir had slowed to turn into a field drive. There were no injuries and no citations were issued. Damage to Kennedy’s 2000 Oldsmobile Alero was estimated at $3,000. Damage to the tractor was estimated at $1,000. At 5:03 pm a deputy investigated illegal dumping of chemicals into a pond in the 1600 block of County Road E-53 east of Jefferson. The Department of Natural Resources is taking over the investigation. At 9:51 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of burning in Scranton.
Wednesday, July 17: At 12:22 am a deputy investigated an animal complaint in Scranton. At 5:41 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident in the 2000 block of 230th St in Junction Township. Andrew Krieger struck a deer with a 2004 Buick LeSabre, causing an estimated $3,000 damage to the vehicle. At 11:27 pm the sheriff, deputies, Carroll County deputies, a Boone County deputy and a K-9 assisted the Jefferson PD with a vehicle chase on Highway 4 near Highway 30.
Tuesday, July 16: At 3:49 am a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-53 and Deer Run Road west of Jefferson. Nathaniel Truss, 44, of Scranton struck a deer with his 2008 Chevrolet Uplander, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage to the vehicle. At 11:41 am a deputy investigated a fire in the 1500 block of T Ave in Junction Township. It was a controlled burn. At 7:46 pm a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Grand Junction.
Monday, July 15: At 8:49 am a deputy investigated a scam in the 2300 block of County Road E-26 (170th St) in Junction Township. At 9:13 am a deputy assisted with a deer in a Morton building in the 1500 block of K Ave in Jackson Township. At 2:11 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a search of a residence in the 100 block of E. Clark Street. At 4:33 pm a deputy investigated a littering complaint on Highway 30 near B Ave in Kendrick Township.
Sunday, July 14: At 1:13 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a dog running at large in the 1400 block of Highway 4 near Jefferson. At 11:17 am a deputy investigated a complaint of criminal mischief in Grand Junction. At 10;29 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of harassment in Grand Junction.
Saturday, July13: At 3:16 am a deputy investigated a suspicious vehicle in Grand Junction. At 5:56 am a deputy investigated a gas drive-off at Casey’s General Store in Grand Junction. At 10:45 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 100 block of 250th St in Scranton Township.
Friday, July 12: At 10:25 am the sheriff, deputies, Iowa State Patrol, Greene County Ambulance, Scranton fire, and Bayard fire responded to a two-vehicle accident on Highway 25 and County Road E-57 (290th St) in Franklin Township. Both drivers were injured. The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the accident. At 10:28 am a deputy investigated a complaint of a drone in the 1200 block of 305th St in Greenbrier Township. At 7:50 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on County Road E-26 (170th St) and County Road P-46 (W Ave) east of Dana. Kevin Peterson, 62, of Ogden struck a deer with his 2018 Chevrolet Traverse. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $3,000. At 8:20 pm a deputy investigated a theft in Grand Junction. At 10:56 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Grand Junction. At 11:55 pm a deputy arrested Brandon Nevins, 38, of Grand Junction on a Polk County warrant for parole violation.
Thursday, July 11: At 9:09 am a deputy investigated a violation of a no contact order in Churdan. At 9:42 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on Highway 30 at 210th St in Kendrick Township. Victoria Johnson, 18, of Scranton struck a deer, causing an estimated $1,500 in damage to her 2010 Chevrolet Aveo.
Wednesday, July 10: At 12:32 am a deputy investigated a driving complaint on Highway 30 at B Ave east of the Greene-Carroll county line. Tyler Tassell, 40, of Carroll was arrested for operating while under the influence- first offense*.
Tuesday, July 9: At 11:05 am a deputy picked up a small dog that was running at large in the 500 block of T Ave in Dawson Township. At 12:21 pm a deputy investigated single vehicle accident in the 1400 block of R Ave in Grant Township. Olivia Lane, 17, of Nebraska lost control of her 2000 Honda CR-V and rolled into the ditch. She sustained minor injuries that did not require medical transport. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $5,000. At 3:36 pm a deputy investigated a fraud in Grand Junction. At 6:42 pm the sheriff and deputies executed a search warrant at 2450 337th St in Washington Township. Drug paraphernalia, suspected methamphetamines, suspected marijuana, and prescription drugs were seized. At 8:05 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 700 block of H Avenue in Bristol Township. At 9:47 pm a deputy investigated a disorderly conduct complaint in Scranton.
Monday, July 8: At 5:58 am a deputy removed a deer from the roadway on Highway 30 near County Road P-14 (J Ave) west of Jefferson. At 10:26 am a deputy investigated a dog bite in Grand Junction. At 11:36 am a deputy investigated a theft in Scranton. At 3:31 pm a deputy arrested Darren Lehrkamp, 26, of Scranton for a South Dakota arrest warrant for a probation violation*. At 8:56 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in Scranton. At 9:22 pm a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in Grand Junction. At 10:10 pm a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in the 1000 block of H Ave in Bristol Township.
Sunday, July 7: At 11:20 am a deputy investigated an assault at the Grand Junction swimming pool. At 10:38 pm a deputy investigated the violation of a no contact order in Grand Junction. At 10:45 pm a deputy investigated a complaint of domestic abuse assault in Grand Junction.

Brandon Squibb, 35, of Glidden struck a deer with his 2004 Chevrolet Impala, causing an estimated $7,000 in damage to the vehicle. At 2:56 pm a deputy investigated a car-deer accident on 210th St near B Ave in Kendrick Township. Kirsten Hoyle, 19, of Churdan struck a deer, causing an estimated $2,500 in damage to a 2009 Ford Focus. At 7:37 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Scranton. At 8:51 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Scranton. At 10:01 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Churdan. At 10:06 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Scranton.
Thursday, July 4: At 11:20 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in the 2000 block of 305th St in Washington Township. At 11:30 am a deputy investigated a criminal mischief complaint in Scranton. At 3:15 am a deputy investigated a harassment complaint in Grand Junction. At 7:50 pm a deputy and the Churdan fire department assisted with a tree branch on a power line in the 600 block of D Ave in Cedar Township. At 8:36 pm a deputy investigated a burglary at the Squirrel Hollow campground. At 10:15 pm a deputy investigated a fireworks complaint in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, July 3: At 5:48 am a deputy checked on water over the roadway on County Roads E-26 (170th St) and P-46 (X Ave) east of Dana. At 11:15 am a deputy investigated an abandoned 911 call in Churdan. At 2:36 pm a deputy assisted the Jefferson PD with a trespass complaint in the 500 block of East Lincoln Way. At 4:05 pm the sheriff and deputies located several roads under water around the county. At 5:30 pm a deputy investigated an abandoned 911 call in the 1700 block of Newberry Ave in Grant Township. At 10:09 pm a deputy investigated a suspicious person in Grand Junction.
Tuesday, July 2: At 3:25 pm a deputy arrested Preston Perin, 57, of Jefferson on a Dallas County arrest warrant for failure to appear.
Monday, July 1: At 10:55 am a deputy investigated a trespass complaint in Grand Junction. At 6:50 pm a deputy investigated a careless driving complaint in Grand Junction.
