A disappointing end came to the Greene County softball season Wednesday night.
The Rams lost by 10 runs to West Marshall in the first round of Class 3A substate — 11-1 in six innings.
West Marshall took an early lead and only extended its advantage over the next five innings, as the Rams could only muster four hits on the night. Emma Hoyle, the Rams’ starting pitcher, got the only RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the sixth and final inning.
Hoyle gave up six earned runs on the mound, but three Rams errors hurt Greene County as well.
Tieryn Tucker, Jenna Beyers and Megan Carey recorded the Rams’ hits.
Greene County ends the season with a 10-18 record.
