Jefferson voters validated the appointment of Darren Jackson to fill the vacant council seat in Tuesday’s special election. Jackson received 303 votes, 53.44 percent of the total votes cast. Another wet week as showers and thunderstorms moved through the state meant Iowa farmers had limited opportunities for fieldwork during the week ending June 23, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service. Statewide there were just 3.1 days suitable for fieldwork. Fieldwork activities included planting, harvesting hay, spraying and applying nitrogen.
