Greene County baseball may have been rained out Monday night, but Rams softball was able to take the field against North Polk.
The result wasn’t what the Rams wanted, as the Comets come out 6-3 winners.
The Rams led 3-2 after three innings. The Comets tied the score in the fourth and put up three runs in the fifth inning to go up by three runs. Neither team scored in the two final frames.
The Rams tallied eight hits for the game. Jenna Beyers hit a double, the only extra base hit for the Rams, and a single. Izzy Bravard had a pair of singles and Megan Carey, Emma Hoyle, Tieryn Tucker and Kyla Beyers hit one single each.
Emma Hoyle took the pitching loss despite going six innings and giving up three earned runs. She struck out two, walked two, and allowed seven hits.
The Greene County defense had six errors, which led to three of the Comets’ runs.
The Rams are 4-14 on the season and 2-6 in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference. North Polk is 13-7 overall and 8-1 in the conference. They trail South Hamilton in the HOIAC, with the Hawks currently at 9-1.
The Rams host Manson-Northwest Webster Tuesday.
