Surgery nurse Brenda Groves, RN, became the 11th nurse to receive the DAISY Award at Greene County Medical Center.
Four individual nurses and the entire acute nursing team were recognized at the Wednesday afternoon awards event.
Groves has been at the medical center since 2002. Since the DAISY Award was instituted at the medical center in 2014, Groves has been nominated three times.
This nomination came from the parent of a surgery patient, who wrote that Groves “spent time making sure (daughter’s name) was comfortable and understood what was going on… We are both very grateful to have such a smart, kind, compassionate nurse like Brenda available to help during such a stressful time.”
Other nominees were long term care nurse Stacey Biggart, acute nurses Jodi Schroeder and Abby Skoglund, and the entire acute nursing team.
Greene County Medical Center holds DAISY Award ceremonies each spring and fall. Nominations can be done any time. Forms and submission boxes are located throughout the medical center and are available on the medical center website. Nominations can be made by patients, their family members, caregivers, community members and co-workers.
