Greene County had two top 10 finishes on Thursday at the Drake Relays in Des Moines. Carter Morton was sixth in the Class 2A boys’ high jump, leaping 6’ 5”, and Brianna Osterson’s mark of 17’ 3” was seventh in the long jump for the girls.
Morton was one of eight jumpers on Thursday to clear 6’ 5”, and only three cleared the next height of 6’ 7”.
Osterson entered the competition in 22nd place and finished seventh, having the sixth best effort in the preliminaries. Her effort on Thursday equals her career best.
Tyler Miller was 26th among 27 in the boys’ shot put. He fouled twice and his only legal throw went 45’ 9-3/4”.
Colby Kafer competed in the boys’ long jump but fouled on all three attempts and did not register a distance.
Neither of the 4×100 relay teams made it out of the preliminaries. The boys tied for 48th place in 44.92 with Tyler Teeples, Morton, Brent Riley and Kafer, while the girls ran 53.48 seconds and finished 92nd among 96 teams.
