In Greene County district court McKensie Rae Bess, 36, of Carroll was sentenced April 3 to seven days in jail after she pleaded guilty at arraignment to a charge of possession of marijuana- second offense. The jail term was suspended and she was placed on unsupervised probation for one year. She must undergo a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense. Bess was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge, a $10 drug abuse resistance education (DARE) surcharge and a $125 Law Enforcement Initiative surcharge. She must also pay $500 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees. Court costs were $219.67. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. McCarville)
Danielle Nicole Hermansen, 29, of Jefferson pleaded not guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- first offense. A trial date was set for May 14.
Cases were initiated as follows: Branden Gerrick Smith, 42, of Jefferson, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense and criminal mischief- third degree; and Curtis Gene Hoyt, 54, of Perry, OWI- first offense and driving while license revoked.
