In Greene County district court Lyle Neil Stork, 56, of Glidden was sentenced March 8 to two years in prison after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated- second offense. All but seven days of the prison term was suspended and he was placed on formal probation for two years. He must compete the recommendations of a substance abuse evaluation he has already undergone, and he must complete a community college drinking drivers school. Stork must pay sheriff’s room and board charges for the jail time he serves, as well as a $1,875 fine with a $656.25 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (D.A.R.E.). Michael Allen Olson, 57, of Jefferson was sentenced March 11 to six months in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of assault on person in certain occupation. All but seven days of the jail term was suspended and he was placed on formal probation for two years. An identical jail sentence was also entered on a separate case in which he was charged with the same offense. The jail terms are consecutive. He must pay sheriff’s room and board charges for the 14 days he serves. In each case Olson was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge. Court costs were $100 in each case. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Levi Joe Shield, 20, of Templeton pleaded not guilty to a charge of OWI- first offense. A trial was set for May 14.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Allen George Smith,52, of Grand Junction, theft- third degree, and in a separate case, assault while displaying a dangerous weapon; Michelle Guzman, 41, of Paton, theft- fourth degree; Shawn Robert Clark, 43, of Stuart, theft- second degree; and Jason A. Thede, 47, of Jefferson, assault causing bodily injury or mental illness.
