Scranton Betterment Committee and the All School Alumni are combining their efforts for an evening of food, fun and entertainment Saturday evening, March 16. The Scranton Community Center is the site for the annual soup supper and ladies six-on-six basketball game.
The soup will be hot and ready to eat at 5 pm with serving continuing until 6:30. Carry-outs and local deliveries will be available. Call 712-652-3344 to schedule your meal.
The Churdan Town and Country Band will perform prior to the tip off and during half time of the basketball game which begins at 6:30 pm. They plan to plan a mix of old-fashioned pep band songs as well as music that you can tap your toes to.
A special tribute is planned for six-on-six basketball coaches at 6:30. The action with the “experienced” female ball players is slated to begin following the tribute.
No admission fee is charged but a free will donation will be welcome. Money raised will be used for signage at the Community Center.
It’s a big year in Scranton as the community prepares to celebrate the Sesquicentennial on June 29. After 150 years, there is much to be happy about. ~The Scranton Journal
