Area residents don’t have to wait until July, at the fair, to get 4-H beef burgers. Greene County 4-H Young Leaders are hosting a Beef Burger Supper Saturday, March 16, from 5 to 7pm at the Presbyterian Church in Jefferson.
“Who doesn’t love beef burgers?” said Kara Reed, President of the Greene County 4-H Young Leaders. “We have been working extremely hard to put this event together and would love if the community would come out to enjoy our famous beef burgers from the fair”.
The menu for this event is a 4-H beef burger, chips, baked beans, bars and a drink. Carry-out will be available. There will also be silent auction items available for attendees to bid on. All proceeds go back to the Young Leaders to continue to attend regional workshops, leadership activities and organize other programs throughout Greene County.
This event is 100 percent youth organized. “The team met this fall and came up with many ideas of what they could do as a fundraiser this year. They then voted on what event they wanted to do for the community,” said Kayla Willms, Greene County youth & 4-H coordinator. “I am excited to watch the group take charge of an event they feel passionate about.”
Youth are learning how to plan an event, fundraise, and manage finances. They are making phone calls and writing letters to donors as well as talking to local vendors to order supplies.
“Join the Greene County 4-H Young Leaders for a great evening by supporting our youth as they grow into tomorrow’s leaders,”Willms said.
