Lions Club – The Rippey Lions Club will hold a potluck Thursday, Jan. 31, at 7 pm and prepare for serving food at the BRR Ride during the program time. Pastor Paul and Nancy Burrow are the coordinators for the meal.

There will not be a meeting on Feb. 7 with the next regular meeting on Feb. 21 with a meal served by women from the Rippey United Methodist Church.

BRR Ride Saturday – BRR riders will be in Rippey, Saturday, Feb. 2, for the 42nd Bike Ride to Rippey and back to Perry.

Over the years, they have experienced frigid temperatures and wind chills while plowing through a foot of snow, but they have also enjoyed spring like temperatures of 60 degrees as they did in 1987. That year, according to the paper, an estimated 1,000-plus rode and several businesses and organizations were open for business, including the Rippey Café, Kay and Rosie Lunch Wagon, TC and B Sports Supply, the Legion as well as the Mason and Rebekah Lodges.

The businesses and organizations have dwindled and it’s harder to find the volunteers to help, but the riders, as always, will still find food and hospitality in Rippey.

It’s amazing to be visiting with someone in Arizona and they actually have heard of Rippey because of the ride. The hard part is convincing them that the riders do ride, no matter what Mother Nature decides to share that day. She may be in a good mood this year, as the weather predictors indicate 40-degree weather for Saturday.
