Andrew Yang, who announced his candidacy for president in November, 2017, will meet with voters Friday, Feb. 1, from 10 to 11 am at the Milwaukee Road depot on E. Lincoln Way in Jefferson.
Yang, a Democrat, is an entrepreneur and the founder of Venture for America. Venture for America assists entrepreneurs create jobs in economically challenged cities like Baltimore, Cleveland, Detroit and Pittsburgh.
His campaign platform calls for a $1,000 monthly universal basic income (UBI) for all U.S. citizens ages 18 to 64. The program would be funded by a 10 percent value added tax.
His town hall meeting in Jefferson will be preceded by a private tour of Pillar Technologies and conversation with Pillar’s Linc Kroeger about extending the career opportunities of the Digital Revolution to rural America.
