The National Weather Service warns Iowans of life-threatening cold air late Monday into early Friday. The coldest air will be in northeast Iowa. The coldest wind chill values are expected Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Frostbite will be possible within 10 minutes of exposure to the coldest air. Hypothermia is possible. Vehicles, including school buses, may not start. Prolonged cold will stress heating systems.This may be the coldest air in a generation. Record to near-record cold temperatures and cold wind chills are expected Wednesday.
