Mass of the Resurrection was offered Jan. 26 at St Brigid Catholic Church in Grand Junction for Eleanor Elizabeth Krieger, 87 of Grand Junction. Celebrant was Father Steven Brodersen of Carroll. Jeff councilman charged with extortion

Longtime Jefferson council member Larry Teeples, 77, of Jefferson has been charged with extortion, a Class D felony, after allegedly telling police chief Mark Clouse that he would no longer support the police department in council votes unless officers backed away from enforcement involving his grandchildren. The charge was filed Jan. 23 and Teeples was arrested and released Jan. 25.

VFW soup supper slated for Saturday
