Pheasant hunters and supporters of the Greene County chapter of Pheasants Forever will gather Saturday night, following the first day of the hunting season, for the annual fundraising banquet. The event is scheduled in Clover Hall on the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson.
Toast and Boast starts at 5:30 pm, followed by the dinner at 7 and the auction. Persons who want tickets can call Kevin Devilbiss at 515-386-3762. Tickets will also be sold at the door.
A variety of games with nice prizes will be offered to entertain the guests. Come early to participate and visit with your friends.
The Greene County PF Chapter is in its 32nd year. Last year it reported 135 food plot projects on 710 acres; 2,625 acres of land projects; 7,700 acres of nesting projects, and 200 acres of shelterbelt projects.
Pheasant season – Iowa’s pheasant season is Oct. 27 through Jan. 10, 2019. Shooting hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm. The daily bag limit is three rooster pheasants with a possession limit of 12. Hunters must have a valid hunting license and habitat fee.
Hunters are required to wear at least one article of external clothing with at least 50 percent of its surface area solid blaze orange: hat, cap, vest, coat, jacket, sweatshirt, shirt or coveralls. The same blaze orange rule applies while hunting quail, gray partridge and ruffed grouse. ~The Scranton Journal
