Halloween fun starts Thursday, Oct. 25, with the Jefferson park and recreation department’s come-and-go Halloween party from 4 to 5 pm at the Greene County Community Center. There will be games, activities, and treats for all children ages 2 through fifth grade. There is no charge.
Trick-or-Treat Around the Square will take place from 5 to 6 pm, and children are invited to the Jefferson public library for treats and a short performance of “Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?”
A new addition to the evening of fun is a Spooktacular Halloween-themed concert at the middle school from 7 to 8 pm. Musicians in grades 7-12 will perform and there will be treats for children after the concert.
Zombies will take over Daubendiek Park Tuesday, Oct. 30, for the JPRD’s Zombie Run. Participants must complete the set course without being tagged by zombies. Prizes will be awarded to runners depending on whether they finish dead or undead.
Youngsters in grades 4-8 are invited. Registrations are being accepted now at the Greene County Community Center. Race day registration and sign-in will be at the park from 5 to 5:15 pm, with the Zombie Run from 5:30 to 6. There is a $10 participation fee.
