Janet Durlam was honored Thursday as the 2018 Friend of the Year by the Friends of the Jefferson Public Library.
Durlam has helped with the Friends’ used book sales since retiring from teaching in 2011. Her offer to sort by author the dozens of donated paperback books grew into moving boxes of books, organizing and shelving books. She visits the library at least once a week to take care of books in the donation bin in the library foyer.
“Your organizational skills contribute to the organization of the book sale room, as well as being a benefit to our book sale customers, making it easier for them to locate their favorite books,” said Friends of the Library president Jean Finch in making the presentation.
A reception for Durlam’s family and friends followed the presentation.
