The Greene County Rams’ 49-6 win over OABCIG Friday earned them an at-large berth in the Class 2A playoffs.
The Rams will travel to Van Horne to play the Benton Community Bobcats Friday, Oct.26, at 7 pm.
The Bobcats are also 8-1 on the season. They’re ranked fourth in Class 2A, while the Rams are ranked between seventh and tenth.
Kuemper Catholic won the 2A District 9 title with a 4-1 district record, identical to the Rams’. They got the title because they beat the Rams. The Iowa High School Athletic Association used a ratings percentage index (RPI) across the state to put more parity in the playoffs. The winner of the title in each district, along with five other teams determined by the RPI, are in the play-offs.
The Rams were fifth in Class 2A using the RPI. The OABCIG Falcons, who finished 3-2 in District 9 after their loss to the Rams, got the sixth spot. Three District 9 teams are in the play-offs.
