The second of two candidate forums hosted by the Rotary Club of Jefferson will be held Thursday, Oct. 11, at 7 pm at the Greene County Elementary School cafeteria.
The forum will include all candidates for county office. Incumbent county recorder Marcia Tasler and assistant county attorney Thomas Laehn will speak first. Tasler, a Democrat, is unopposed for another term as recorder. Laehn, a Libertarian, is running unopposed for the office of county attorney.
County treasurer Donna Lawson, a Democrat, and Katlynn Gannon Mechaelsen, a Republican challenger for the office, will speak next.
Finally, incumbent Republican county supervisors Dawn Rudolph and Tom Contner, who represent Districts 2 and 3 respectively, and Democrat challengers Patti Naylor and Melissa Frederick (again, Districts 2 and 3 respectively) will speak. Supervisors must reside in the district they represent but voting is done at large across the county.
The candidates will make introductory remarks and answer questions from the audience. All candidates will be given an opportunity to speak again after the question period.
The forum will be moderated by Rotarian Rick Morain. The Rotary Club is hosting candidate forums as a service to the community. All voters are encouraged to attend,
Absentee voting started Monday. The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
