Jefferson Kiwanis Club installs new officers

Giving back to the Greene County community is one of the principal goals of the Jefferson Kiwanis Club. Its motto is “Serving the children of the world”, and Kiwanians accomplish this mission in part through funds raised from events throughout the year.

On Sept. 26, the club held its installation of officers for the coming year. The following were installed by Division 11 Lt-Governor Geri Derner: Bob Schwarzkopf as treasurer; Toni Wetrich as secretary; Thomas Laehn as vice president; Denny Hammen as president- elect and Tom Heater as president, receiving the gavel from out-going president Vicky Lautner. The master of ceremonies was Don Van Gilder.

The board of directors for the next year includes Vern Foje, Don Van Gilder, Bill Raney, Randy Monthei, Dr. Jim Teusch, Rick McCollom, Kathy Pittman, Lisa Kuhl and Denny Goshon.

Kiwanis is a worldwide organization of service and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults around the world and right here at home. They are dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. The club has 37 members and is always looking for new people to help with its mission. The next Kiwanis event is the pancake breakfast and silent auction to be held Saturday, Oct. 27, at the Jefferson Elks lodge.
