The Ram cross country team competed in the Norsemen Cross Country Invitational hosted by Roland-Story at River Bend Golf Course in Story City Sept. 20, on a very hot, windy day. Coach Jeff Lamoureux said there were several ranked teams on both the girls and boys side of the meet. “Considering the conditions, I was pretty pleased with the kids’ times,” the coach said.
The Greene County girls finished eighth in a field of 14 teams.
Conner Allender was the first Ram to finish. Her time of 24:14 put her in 22nd place. Kassie Lamoureux was right behind her in 24th place with a time of 24:38. Other places and times were Makala Kafer 41at, 25:44; Ashlee Harmeyer, 50th, 26:16; Izzy Bravard, 60th, 27;08; Kirsten Lamoureux, 84th, 32:45; and Tieryn Tucker, 85th 32:45.
Team scores were Dike-New Hartford 49, Nevada 59, Bondurant-Farrar 114, Madrid 134, Roland-Story 137, South Hamilton 173, Southeast Valley 182, Greene County 197, Pleasantville 205, Woodward Granger 228, Webster City278, Ogden 288, Colo-NESCO 407, and Woodward Academy 440.
The Ram boys finished 14th of 16 teams.
Luis Valazco paced the Rams with a time of 20:08, good for 49th place. Jack Bryson was one second behind him and in 51st place, and Connor Brus was one second behind Bryson and in 53rd place. Other places and times were Logan Woodruff, 68th, 20:54; Jayden Carstensen, 94th, 22:34; Trevor Lebeck, 95th, 22:40; and Jax Carstensen, 106th, 24:08. Runners whose places were not part of the team score were Brian Hardaway, 25:02; Ethan Larsen, 25:58; and Anthony Tolsdorf, 28:05.
