The Greene County varsity volleyball team played Saturday at the South Central Calhoun Invitational in Lake City. The Rams went 2-3 in matches and 4-9 in sets for the day.
The Rams started with a loss to the host Titans 10-21 in both sets. The Rams beat the Audubon Wheelers in three sets, 11-21, 21-15, 15-13, but couldn’t keep the momentum going against IKM-Manning, dropping the first set 23-25, and the second set 14-21. The lost to Pocahontas Area in two, 10-21, 17-21. They finished the day topping Belmond-Klemme 21-4 and 21-9.
Game stats were not posted for the two sets against Belmond-Klemme. In the remaining 11 sets, junior Sophie Havens led in serving, making 32 of 34 for 94 percent. Junior Paige Heaning was 26 of 28 for 93 percent serving and had 21 digs. Sophomore Lily Muir led in Kills with 28 an in digs, also with 28. Junior Luisa Stompo had 18 kills.
The Rams will start their Heart of Iowa Conference season hosting the South Hamilton Hawks in the middle school gym in Jefferson.
